Mainz (dpa / lrs) - On the second day in a row, there were no buses in some regions of Rhineland-Palatinate on Friday.

In the wage dispute in the private bus industry, the union’s two-day warning strike once again paralyzed parts of bus traffic in the country.

Among other things, at the companies of DB Regio Bus Mitte, DB Regio Bus Rhein-Mosel, but also at Stadtbus Bad Kreuznach and Stadtbus Zweibrücken, the buses were completely idle on Friday, as Marko Bärschneider from Verdi said.

As on Thursday, around 2,000 employees also went out of work on Friday.

As Verdi announced on Friday, the strike will continue on May 12th, 17th and 18th. According to Bärschneider, there is a letter from the Association of Employers 'Associations of the Rhineland-Palatinate Transport Industry (VAV), according to which the employers' association is "unable" to sit down at the negotiating table. The managing director of VAV, Heiko Nagel, had referred to the compensation promised by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate for the increases in the collective bargaining agreement last summer, which had not yet taken place.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the parties involved have had a proposal to refinance the previous collective bargaining since the beginning of the week.

This stipulates that additional costs that go beyond the usual wage increase are to be borne half by the state and the responsible authorities.

The responsible authorities are the cities and municipalities that have joined together to form transport associations.

Bärschneider confirmed this offer on Friday, as did VAV managing director Heiko Nagel.

According to Nagel, the offer could be “the basis for a deal”.

The VAV is therefore in an exchange with the ministry.
