Joe Biden admits it: the US economy still has a long way to go.

The US President spoke on Friday morning, May 7, after the publication of unemployment figures.

We knew it wouldn't be a sprint, but a marathon.

The American president uses the sporting metaphor to evoke the recovery of the economy.

The unemployment figures are a disappointment compared to the expected results, but Joe Biden shows his confidence and calls on Americans to be patient.

"The slope is steep"

" said Joe Biden.

Our efforts are starting to pay off, but the slope is steep and we still have a long way to go.

We are still emerging from an economic collapse that cost us 22 million jobs.

"

The plan to save the economy was designed to rebuild the economy in one year, explains the president, not in two months.

And Joe Biden insists on the importance of continuing the efforts.

A thinly veiled call to elected Republican officials who are reluctant to vote for his massive infrastructure investment plan.
