Leipzig (dpa / lnw) - RB Leipzig extended the contract with its coveted goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi before the two duels with Borussia Dortmund.

The Hungarian signed a contract with the Saxons until 2025, announced the Bundesliga club on Friday.

The 31-year-old's original contract ran until 2023. However, due to a release clause, Gulácsi RB could have left the Bundesliga runners-up this summer.

He was also traded at BVB.

The Leipzig team will play against Dortmund in the championship this Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky) and on May 13 in Berlin in the DFB Cup final.

“The club and I have been following a very special path since 2015, which has taken us from the 2nd division to the semi-finals of the Champions League and next week to the cup final again.

That was and is an extraordinary and very successful time and we would like to continue to live it together, ”said the Hungarian national goalkeeper.

The keeper has been playing for Leipzig since 2015.

Since then he has been working successfully with goalkeeping coach Frederik Gößling, who extended his contract until 2026.

"The cooperation with Frederik Gößling is very good and we are a well-rehearsed and above all very ambitious team," emphasized the Hungarian, who has played 222 competitive games for the club so far.
