In the last decade, a so-called wasp summer usually occurs every other summer in Sweden and Anticimex had expected this before last year.
That did not happen and they had to carry out 24,853 clean-ups - which was less than half as many as the 60,000 they expected.
Now there is uncertainty as to whether it will be a wasp summer with many insects and remediation work or not.
- This means that it will be even more difficult for us to forecast what the year will be like this year, but we assume that there will be many wasps anyway, says Tom Lindgren, service manager in Blekinge.
High season during the summer
His estimate from previous years is that the company does about 1,000 wasp decontaminations in a normal year, while the number of decontaminations in a wasp summer can be up to 3,000. of the buzzing animals.
- Most conversations usually fall into July, August and September.
That is when the wasp communities have built themselves big to be seen clearly enough, says Tom Lindgren.
