Billerbeck (dpa / lnw) - For the first time in over half a year, a swimming pool will open again to the general public on Saturday in North Rhine-Westphalia.

As part of a model test, citizens can visit the Billerbeck outdoor pool in the Coesfeld district from 10 a.m.

Since the beginning of November, all swimming pools in North Rhine-Westphalia have been closed to the public due to the corona pandemic.

A cultural event is also planned in the Münsterland district on Saturday evening as part of the model project: there is to be an open-air guitar concert in the inner courtyard of the outer bailey of Vischering Castle in Lüdinghausen.

The twin brothers and guitarists Michael and Thomas Hoene from Nottuln play jazz, flamenco and Latin.

100 tickets were sold.

The district of Coesfeld is one of several model municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia in which certain openings are permitted below a constant weekly incidence of 100.

It all started last Monday with a fitness and rehabilitation studio in Havixbeck.

Another outdoor pool, the Klutenseebad in Lüdinghausen, wants to open on Monday.

In Coesfeld, the incidence has been below 100 since the end of 2020. Soest and Lippstadt will be the first cities in North Rhine-Westphalia to allow outdoor catering again from next Wednesday.

A maximum of 500 visitors are permitted in the Billerbeck outdoor pool.

Anyone who wants to enter the bathroom must bring a negative corona test, which must not be older than 24 hours.

Fully vaccinated or convalescent people are on an equal footing, as the bathroom reports on its website.

Registration is not required.

It is compulsory to wear a mask on the premises of the outdoor pool.

The mask may only be taken off on the way to and in the water.

A maximum of 155 people are allowed to be in the pool at the same time.

You have to keep your distance.

There shouldn't be a one-way system in which everyone has to swim in circles.

The German Weather Service expects an air temperature of around eleven degrees for the morning.

It should rain lightly in the afternoon.

The water temperature is 23 degrees.

Jürgen Maas from the Sports and Culture Department of the City of Billerbeck assumes that the rush on Saturday will not be so big because of the weather.

"There are those who really want to swim," he said in advance.

Inquiries about the opening have come from far away, for example from the Ruhr area, the Osnabrück area and even the Hanover area.

In the coming days, a traffic light system on the website of the outdoor pool will show visitors whether there is still space.
