Dötlingen (dpa / lni) - Two men were hit and kicked during a traffic jam on Autobahn 1 near the community of Dötlingen on Friday.
As the police announced, a 57-year-old drove his car illegally on the hard shoulder past the stationary vehicles.
When his journey ended at a narrow point, a 53-year-old driver of an articulated lorry got out to confront the man.
Both got into an argument and started punching and kicking each other.
Passing by officers from the Ahlhorn autobahn police broke them apart and initiated criminal proceedings against both of them for bodily harm.
Drivers can also expect administrative offense proceedings because they have driven on the hard shoulder.
