Three days after this extraordinary delivery, by caesarean section, the mother and the babies "

are doing well

", according to the obstetrician gynecologist at the private clinic in Casablanca.

The 25-year-old mother, originally from Timbuktu, was evacuated from Mali a month ago.

The situation obviously remains fragile

for featherweight infants

: the nine babies weigh between 500 grams for the two smallest and 1,100 grams for the "

heaviest

".

Doctor Yazid Mourad, from the Aïn Borja clinic who took care of Halima Cissé and performed the caesarean on Tuesday, gives rather reassuring news.

“

So the mom spent a night in intensive care on the first day.

She is now in her room.

We watch it, we have to support it a little on the psychological level.

Thursday, she came to see her babies and she will try to touch them, so that contact is made

.

"

As for babies too, the situation is under control, adds Dr Mourad: “

The babies are also doing well.

There are babies who are extubated.

For now all nine are doing well, hope this continues.

I always say: it is, day by day.

"

For these tiny babies, five girls and four boys, you should consider six to eight weeks of hospitalization.

Under such circumstances, an infection can be fatal.

Nine children alive in one pregnancy is a world first.

Halima Cissé is already the mother of a child.

She was first transferred in mid-March from Timbuktu to the Point G university hospital in Bamako, then evacuated to Morocco on March 30.

The cesarean was performed at seven months of pregnancy and while ultrasound scans were reported seven babies, ultimately nine children were born in Morocco.
