• Christelle Morancais has been president of the regional council since 2017 after the resignation of Bruno Retailleau.

  • The regional elections will take place on June 20 and 27, 2021. At the same time as the departmental elections.

That's it. After having long maintained a false suspense, the president of the regional council of Pays-de-la-Loire, Christelle Morancais (LR), confirms this Friday that she is a candidate for her own succession. La Sarthoise carries a “gathering list” in which members of the UDI, the MoDem and civil society are registered. “I don't have a slogan. My compass is action. I am 100% committed to my region, ”she said at a press conference in Nantes.

His goal ?

“May the region resist as best as possible and remain at the top of the national rankings.

»His priorities?

“Employment: the battle of battles, I want to regain the lowest unemployment rate in France.

The environment: I want a positive ecology, projects, an ecology of growth that does not oppose the territories.

And finally security: I want to defend our quality of life.

Security is not, however, a competence of a regional council.

“There are areas where there is a feeling of insecurity, not just in Nantes.

I cannot tolerate it.

That's why I reach out to mayors and municipalities.

"

The ecological "threat"

Aged 46, Christelle Morancais has been at the head of the Pays-de-la-Loire regional council since 2017 after taking over from Bruno Retailleau during his mandate, the senator having been touched by the combination of functions.

La Sarthoise had therefore, until then, not campaigned on his behalf.

Besides Christelle Morancais, Matthieu Orphelin (EELV), Guillaume Garot (PS), François de Rugy (LREM), Hervé Juvin (RN), Cécile Bayle de Jessé (Debout la France) and Eddy Le Beller (Lutte Ouvrière) are candidates for the presidency of the Pays-de-la-Loire regional council.

If she says she is not interested in her opponents and in the "kitchen of political apparatus", Christelle Morancais, however, takes a severe look at the candidacy of environmentalist Matthieu Orphelin.

"I want to protect the Pays-de-la-Loire against this extreme and radical left which defends the ZADs and advocates degrowth," she considers.

This left worries me.
