The County Administrative Board of Skåne is responsible for the nature reserve and has had juniper bushes felled on an area of three hectares, or three hundred thousand square meters.
There are a total of ninety hectares of overgrown pasture in the reserve, says nature conservation manager Jörgen Nilsson.
- Here was a fairly large one-party that was dying, he says and points out over the piles of sawn juniper bushes.
These will now be removed and ground down to wood chips.
Jörgen Nilsson believes that felling was necessary for other plants and insects to thrive in the reserve.
About ten people have contacted him with views on the nature conservation effort.
Mikael Andersson lives next door to the nature reserve and thinks that the felling has been too extensive.

Mikael Andersson lives next door to Risen and was shocked when he saw the extent of the felling.
- It has been so fantastically cozy before but now it is basically just a clear-cut, he says.
He understands that felling must also take place in a nature reserve, in order to preserve the special type of nature and preserve the richness of the species.
But he thinks that the county administrative board could have proceeded more cautiously.
- Try before in a small area and see what happens, he says.
