Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate FDP elects its new board at a digital party conference on Saturday (10:00 a.m.).

The state chairman Volker Wissing has declared that he wants to run for this office again.

Wissing is also Secretary General of the Federal FDP.

The FDP will provide two ministers in the future traffic light government in Mainz.

The Liberals have not yet commented publicly on personnel issues, but it is very likely that the top candidate in the state elections, Daniela Schmitt, will replace Wissing at the head of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

So far she was State Secretary there.

Justice Minister Herbert Mertin is also expected to keep his office.

The FDP wants to advise and decide on its personnel table in the coming week.

The approximately 200 delegates will cast their votes online at the party conference on Saturday, and the event will be broadcast from a studio in a hotel in Mainz.

For legal reasons, according to the FDP, the voting can only take place as a digital area code, the election must then be confirmed by letter.

It is already the second digital party congress for the Rhineland-Palatinate Free Democrats within two days.

On Thursday evening, the delegates approved the coalition agreement negotiated with the SPD and the Greens with almost 83 percent.
