Landau (dpa / lrs) - The arm of an excavator got stuck on a bridge in Landau on Friday - and damaged the structure.

The federal road 10 in the direction of Landau was closed for cleaning work, probably until 10 p.m., the police said on Friday evening.

The excavator was on the back of a truck.

The accident occurred when the 47-year-old truck driver drove onto federal highway 10 in the direction of travel A65 near Landau-Godramstein.

A hydraulic hose of the excavator tore off and the bridge was slightly damaged, as it was said.

Because the leaking hydraulic oil was spreading on the roadway, the B10 had to be closed.

The truck driver was forbidden to continue driving, he now has to answer in a fine procedure.

The property damage is estimated at around 10,000 euros.

The loaded excavator had to be reloaded by a towing company.
