Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - Now it is the turn of the DFB Presidium.

The heads of the regional and state associations of the German Football Association want Fritz Keller to be removed from office.

A look at the association's statutes explains the possible way to do this.

An overview of the next possible steps.

THAT'S WHAT THE LAND CHEFS WANT:

Keller's first official statement on the vote of no confidence last Sunday was seven hours old, as his opponents continued to increase the pressure.

Keller should give up his post in order to “avert further damage to the DFB”, it said on Friday evening in a message distributed by the DFB after a conference of the presidents of the regional and state associations.

After the Nazi settlement of Keller, the DFB presidium should convene a meeting of the board to remove Keller from office.

The item "Removal of Fritz Keller in accordance with Section 32 No. 3 of the DFB statutes from his position as President of the German Football Association" should be on the agenda.

THIS COULD BE DISMISSED:

Paragraph 32, number three regulates the powers of the board of directors in the DFB: «The board of directors is entitled to dismiss members of the executive committee, board of directors and committee members in the event of gross breach of duty or in the event of unworthiness with immediate effect from their work in the DFB by means of a written decision up to the next ordinary Bundestag . "

The person concerned must be heard; he can lodge a complaint against a possible decision.

The next ordinary Bundestag is currently planned for next year.

THIS IS THE DFB BOARD:

In this composition, the body is usually not very much in the public eye.

The executive board of the DFB consists of the members of the executive committee, the state and regional heads and twelve representatives of the German Football League.

The country chiefs do not have it in their own hands to call a board meeting.

This is done by the Presidium.

"The board meets when necessary, but at least twice a year," it says in paragraph 32, number five.

THIS KELLER SAYS:

There was initially no statement from the ailing president about the new attack by the country chiefs.

He had previously spoken on the DFB website for the first time since last Sunday, when the amateur representatives asked him to resign.

Again the 64-year-old asked for forgiveness for his derailment against his vice Rainer Koch.

Again he emphasized that he was taking the no-confidence vote of the regional and state associations seriously.

There is no question of resignation from him.

Since he referred to Koch as "Freisler" at a board meeting on April 23 and compared him to Roland Freisler, the chairman of the People's Court under National Socialism, there has been criticism from all sides.

"I deeply regret my affect-laden derailment and again ask for your forgiveness," said Keller's statement on Friday.

The DFB sports court wants to close the delicate case of the Nazi settlement by the end of May.
