Munich (dpa) - actor and film director Michael Bully Herbig (“Der Schuh des Manitu”, “Bullyparade”) initially didn't want to be in the limelight.

“I didn't originally plan to become an actor.

I wanted a safe place behind the camera, ”the 53-year-old tells the editorial network Germany (RND).

«Before that I only ended up because somebody finally said: We have to show these guys too.

But I felt uncomfortable with it and first needed fictional characters in the TV sketches.

I thought I wasn't good enough to entertain people, ”says Herbig.

From May 14th, he can be seen in the movie “The Boandlkramer and Eternal Love”, which has been postponed several times due to Corona, together with Hape Kerkeling and Hannah Herzsprung on the streaming service Amazon Prime Video.

It is the last work by the director Joseph Vilsmaier, who died in February 2020.

«Sepp hadn't told anyone that he was seriously ill.

For him, the film was one last great wish: He was allowed to deal with death in a humorous way, ”says Herbig.

“If I had known how things were going with him, I would probably have been reluctant to fool around like that.

But it gave him strength. "
