Hamburg (dpa / lno) - An escaped cow wreaked havoc on a terrace in the Hamburg district of Billstedt, destroyed the patio furniture and trampled flowers.

After an "illegal border crossing from Schleswig-Holstein", the young cow was out and about in the Mümmelmannsberg housing estate on Thursday afternoon, said a police spokeswoman on Friday morning.

The animal had previously run away from the pasture in Havighorst (Stormarn district) together with another cow.

The farmer in charge caught the second cow while the first culprit made her way to Mümmelmannsberg.

To the horror of a local resident, the cow ran across the terrace and destroyed furniture and the flowers that had been planted.

The animal could then be brought back intact with a trailer to the pasture about one kilometer away as the crow flies.
