China Overseas Chinese Network, May 7th. According to a comprehensive report from the American Chinese website, May is Asia-Pacific Tradition Month. The majority leader of the House of Representatives and Democrat of Maryland, Hoyer, announced on the 6th that the House of Representatives will resolve the issue in mid-May. Vote on the bill on Asian hate crimes.

The "New Crown Hate Crimes Act" passed the Senate with a 94-1 vote in April. The bill was proposed by Japanese Democratic Party Senator Yoshiko Hirono and Chinese Democratic Party Representative Meng Zhaowen.

The bill instructs the Ministry of Justice to expedite the review of hate crimes related to the epidemic and provide more support to local law enforcement agencies in fighting hate crimes.

Hoyer said in a notice to members that the House of Representatives will vote on the bill during the week of May 17.

The bill is expected to pass smoothly and be signed into law by President Biden.

The House of Representatives will also consider a resolution proposed by California Democrat Zhao Meixin to formally condemn the March 16 Atlanta area massage parlor shooting, which resulted in the deaths of eight people, including six Asian women.

Although the shooting suspect claimed that the attack was not motivated by racism, the incident has exacerbated the fear of hate crimes in the Asian community.
