According to previous media reports, the explosion occurred in the country’s capital Male. The explosion originated from a motorcycle parked next to the Nasheed car.
The motorcycle exploded when Nasheed entered the car and injured many people including Nasheed.
After the explosion, Maldivian Foreign Minister Shahid strongly condemned the incident.
Maldives President Saleh said that the government is dealing with this incident seriously and related investigations are ongoing.
