Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - At the end of the Second World War 76 years ago, the President of the State of Hesse, Boris Rhein (CDU), urgently called for action against radicalization, hatred and agitation as well as any form of racism.

"We have seen setbacks too often in the past few years and months," stressed Beuth in his speech at the commemoration that was recorded on Friday in the Wiesbaden City Palace.

"Too often has long since openly shown its grimace for ideas that were believed to have been overcome."

"I think that is not only shameful and depressing, but it also shows how immensely necessary it is to draw lessons from history," warned the President of the State Parliament.

76 years after the end of the Second World War on May 8, 1945, it must be critically questioned “whether we really have drawn all the lessons from this catastrophe”.

Due to the corona pandemic, the memorial event cannot take place publicly this year.

According to the information, the one-hour recording can therefore be seen this Saturday from 11.00 a.m. on the website of the Hessian state parliament as well as on YouTube and Facebook.
