The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, issued an Amiri decree relieving the Minister of Finance, Ali Sharif Al-Emadi, from his position and assigning the Minister of Trade and Industry Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari to carry out the duties of the Minister of Finance.
The Qatari Attorney General had ordered the arrest of the Minister of Finance, Ali Sharif Al-Emadi, according to the Qatar News Agency.
The agency quoted a statement from the Attorney General's office that the order to arrest the Minister of Finance came after reviewing documents and reports on crimes related to the public office, harm to public money, abuse of office, and abuse of power.
The statement added, "The Attorney General has ordered the opening of extensive investigations into the crimes raised with the submitted papers."
