Berlin (dpa / bb) - In Berlin, the seven-day incidence of the corona pandemic fell below the mark of 100 for the first time in a long time.

It was 98.6 on Friday, as announced by the Senate and the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

In the previous days the value had been 104.8 and 111.2.

The number indicates how many new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants were recorded in the past seven days.

Since the so-called Federal Emergency Brake came into force, the incidence value has been based on the data of the RKI.

The following applies to the seven-day incidence: If it is higher than 100 on three consecutive days, stricter measures apply from the day after the next.

These are in effect until the incidence value falls below 100 on five consecutive days - then the more stringent measures will be withdrawn on the day after the next.

According to the RKI, around one million people (1,052,506) have now received their first vaccination in Berlin.

That is 28.7 percent of the population.

386,230 people were vaccinated twice (10.5 percent).

The Senate Health Administration's numbers on Friday were slightly lower.

596 new infections were registered.

This means that a total of 171,741 infections have been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic.

There were 13 other deaths.

The number of deaths in connection with Corona rose to 3,255 in Berlin.

The situation remains tense in the intensive care units.

24 percent of the intensive care beds were occupied by Covid 19 patients.

This means that the load remains just below the critical value of 25 percent and is slowly falling.
