Berlin (dpa / bb) - The Eisbären Berlin are only one step away from their eighth championship in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

With a home win against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg on Friday evening (7.30 p.m. / Magentasport), the capital city would win the title for the first time since 2013 and become the sole DEL record champion again.

Coach Serge Aubin is confident that his team clearly dominated Wolfsburg in the second final game on Wednesday for the first time this season: “We played our style, the Berlin style. We were aggressive and hungry ”, praised the Canadian after the 4: 1 success with which the polar bears equalized 1: 1 in the best-of-three series. Previously, the Lower Saxony had won all four main round games and the first final duel against the polar bears with their consistent defensive tactics.

For national player Marcel Noebels, the great commitment was the key to victory: "We invested a lot and ran a lot right from the start," he said.

In addition, the attacker emphasized the depth of performance in the team.

After all, the permanent pressure that the polar bears created with their energetic forecheck played a decisive role in cracking the Wolfsburg defensive bulwark.

«All four rows played great.

Everyone did everything to bring the team success, »said Noebels.

For the playoff, the winger is now demanding a final show of strength: "On Friday we will start again from zero," he warned.

"We have to do our best to leave the ice victorious."
