Hanover (dpa / lni) - Lower Saxony wants to relax the planned test obligation for the imminent opening of retail and tourism after criticism from the industries involved.

In addition to qualified tests in test centers, tests carried out under supervision in shops or by employers for visits to the retail sector should be sufficient, said government spokeswoman Anke Pörksen on Friday in Hanover.

Self-tests carried out at home, even by students, do not apply.

Shops up to a size of 200 square meters, in which a maximum of ten customers are allowed to stay at the same time, should be exempted from the test requirement.

With the upcoming Corona regulation, which will take effect from next Monday, Lower Saxony plans to relax the restrictions in districts and large cities where the seven-day incidence is stable below 100.

There the entire retail trade should be able to reopen under certain conditions, gastronomy and tourism should be able to start again in stages and with restrictions.

The details are still in the vote, the regulation will be published on Friday or Saturday.

In hotels, guest houses and youth hostels, two tests per week should be sufficient for the guests after a test on arrival, as is planned for holiday apartments.

Originally, a daily test was envisaged for hotel guests.
