Eystrup (dpa / lni) - An air rescue helicopter had to make an emergency landing near Eystrup (Nienburg district) after a collision with a bird of prey.

The helicopter was on its way from Hanover to Bremen on Thursday afternoon when the bird got into the rotor blades, the police said.

The pilot landed on a dirt road.

The three-man crew remained unharmed.

The bird probably did not survive the collision.

After the emergency landing, the crew traveled by taxi to the nearest base to board a replacement helicopter.

The helicopter involved in the accident was removed and, according to the police, it is to be repaired.
