Bad Tölz (dpa / lby) - The Bavarian Winter Games for people with intellectual disabilities 2023 will take place in Bad Tölz.

The Presidium of Special Olympics Bayern awarded the games to the spa town, as a message from Friday shows.

Up to 700 athletes are expected.

On four days of the competition, competitions in ten sports and a supporting program with opportunities to participate and meet up will take place.

"The Special Olympics Winter Games 2023 are an excellent match for Bad Tölz as a sports city and as a social city," said Bad Tölz Mayor Ingo Mehner.

"We look forward to bringing people together for a celebration of enthusiasm and sporting competition, colorful, diverse, cosmopolitan and cheerful."

The President of the Special Olympics Winter Games in Bavaria, Erwin Horak, said: "From the first talks to the application to the final votes before the decision, the city fully convinced us."
