In one of the cantons of Albi, the departmental elections promise to be a bit special.

The candidate of the National Rally, Philippe Lapeyre, 53, will face ... his own daughter.

26-year-old Margot Lapeyre is involved with the Socialist Party.

A clash on the electoral lists which was created "by chance", according to them.

RN candidate in the departmental elections in a canton of Albi, Philippe Lapeyre, 53, finds himself "by chance" facing a PS candidate who is none other than his daughter Margot, 26 years old. "When I found out she was a candidate, I asked her, 'Where are you going?' Then we said to ourselves: 'Hey, we are going to be adversaries' and that made us laugh, ”explains Philippe Lapeyre, a trainer by profession. "It's completely by chance because I had not told her about my candidacy and neither did she," he adds.

Like her father, Margot Lapeyre, who is currently studying to become a social worker, denies any tension during family meals: "No, it's always interesting to talk about politics".

"We get along very well", underlines Philippe Lapeyre who also ensures that "we talk about everything in family", even if "when we talk about politics, there comes a time when things get stuck."

"It doesn't surprise me to have a girl who has these ideas"

Especially since, despite her young age, Margot is already an experienced activist.

"I have been involved in politics and associations for 10 years" and "I particularly recognize myself in the Socialist Party", she explains. However, "it is good that men think differently than their wife and their daughter ", she specifies.

"It doesn't surprise me to have a girl who has these ideas. I saw her get involved in political life and I found it very good. I let her take flight and go. where she wanted, "says her father.

In the Tarn, the PS president of the departmental council Christophe Ramond is well placed to remain in his post during the elections of June 20 and 27.
