Leipzig (AP) - The Leipzig Kings have signed the captain of the Japanese national team for the premiere season of the European League of Football (ELF).

As the club announced on Friday, wide receiver Yoshihito Omi has signed a contract.

The 25-year-old already played with Kings quarterback Michael Birdsong in Japan.

The Kings had previously signed Anthony Dablé-Wolf as a passport recipient.

The Kings will compete in the ELF on June 20th at Berlin Thunder.

In addition, Hamburg and the Polish team Wroclaw play in the north group, four other teams belong to the south group.

The two best teams qualify for the semifinals.

The first home game will take place on July 4th.
