Homeless and socially disadvantaged people are considered by the Swedish Public Health Agency to belong to a risk group that is prioritized for vaccination.

But there is a great risk that they do not get vaccinated and Jönköping Municipality and the Jönköping County Region do not do enough to help them, says Gunnar Dahlqvist, operations manager at Hela mensan.

The municipality is not responsible for vaccinating Jönköping residents, but it is a matter for the region.

But the municipality is involved in the strategy of vaccinating homeless and socially vulnerable people.

Difficult to assimilate the information

Jönköping Municipality's idea is that the homeless and socially disadvantaged should receive a letter stating that they can book an appointment for vaccination by calling or visiting 1177 on the web.

They must also receive a certificate that they must bring with them at the time of vaccination, something that can be difficult for some people in a vulnerable situation, says Gunnar Dahlqvist.

- If you are then busy with yourself to get up during the day and get food and shelter and may not feel so good, then it is not so easy to assimilate such information, he says.

The municipality says no

There are no plans to arrange pop-up vaccination for the whole person, but the vulnerable are allowed to visit health centers like other people.

- I can understand the challenges that exist, but we have still made quite great efforts to try to find a model that will work for very many, says Stefan Österström, head of the social administration in Jönköping municipality.
