The tourist model regions in Schleswig-Holstein are seeing a real rush of booking inquiries.

The phones were running hot in the tourism centers of the Inner Bay of Lübeck, the Schleiregion, the district of North Friesland and the municipality of Büsum, said the spokeswoman for the Schleswig-Holstein Tourism Agency (TASH), Manuela Schütze, on Thursday.

In the Inner Bay of Lübeck with the towns of Timmendorfer Strand, Scharbeutz, Sierksdorf and Neustadt, holidays are possible again under strict conditions from Saturday.

Sylt and the district of North Friesland have been welcoming guests from all over Germany since May 1st.

Hotels and campsites in the Schleiregion and in Eckernförde have been open again since mid-April.

The North Sea resort of Büsum is scheduled to follow on May 10th.

Many are already booking their summer vacation

The strict requirements for guests include the obligation to test and the obligation to leave their contact details in the hotel and when visiting a restaurant or café.

"If you don't want that, you are unfortunately not allowed to come," said Timmendorfer Strand's tourism director, Joachim Nitz, on Thursday.

“But we don't have to worry about not getting our beds full,” said Nitz.

“The guests are queuing up, people are longing for vacations,” he said.

Schütze drew a similar picture for all four model regions of the country. "Many guests are already booking for the summer in the hope that the corona situation will relax further thanks to the vaccinations," she said. However, she urgently warns against simply driving off without a reservation. "If you want to go on holiday in one of the model regions, you need a reservation," she said.
