The jury writes in its motivation that the theater has opened up Meänkieli for different ages and language groups, among other things by using subtitles in its plays.
Theater director Erling Fredriksson was pleased with the news:
- It is a great honor for all of us, not only us who are involved now, but also those who have been involved over the years.
The Minority Language Prize has been awarded by the Institute of Languages and Folk Memories since 2012.
