The general secretary of the PSOE in Madrid, José Manuel Franco, has finally decided to resign after internal pressure after the debacle of the party's results in the elections on May 4.

This afternoon, the Federal Executive is expected to appoint a manager to take the party to its regional congress.

As this newspaper has learned, Franco has valued the numerous requests for resignation that he heard on Wednesday afternoon in the regional executive of the PSOE and has decided to resign after transferring his decision to the party leadership in Ferraz.

The resignation, advanced by the Ser and confirmed by this newspaper, has caught a large part of the party with surprise since on Wednesday night it refused to do so because "there are only a few months left for the ordinary congress," as he explained in the regional Executive.
