Itzehoe (dpa / lno) - One of the alleged operators of a global child pornography platform, which the police had smashed in mid-April, has already been investigated for similar offenses.

The Itzehoe public prosecutor announced on Thursday.

The spokesman for the authorities, Peter Müller-Rakow, said that the now 58-year-old man was investigated on suspicion of possession of child pornography and the suspected sexual abuse of children.

However, these investigations against the man were temporarily suspended in 2015 after the accused fled to Paraguay in 2010.

The «Bild» newspaper had previously reported on it.

According to the public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt am Main, the 58-year-old is said to have operated child pornography darknet platforms together with a 40-year-old man from the Paderborn district and a 49-year-old from the Mühldorf am Inn district in Bavaria.

According to the investigators, the platform with the name “Boystown” had existed since at least June 2019 and could only be reached via the so-called Darknet.

It was mainly about the worldwide exchange of abuse recordings of boys among the members.

The darknet platform is said to have had more than 400,000 members.
