Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - After a life-threatening knife attack in a parking lot, a 19-year-old man was sentenced to one and a half years suspended sentence by the Frankfurt district court.

As a result of his “showing off”, he confessed that he threatened his two-year-old opponent with a knife in Königstein (Taunus) last November and then stabbed him deeply in the stomach.

The victim could only be saved with an emergency operation.

Immediately after the crime, the heavily drunk young man notified an ambulance and the police.

Therefore, despite the serious injuries, he was not charged with an attempted homicide, but with dangerous bodily harm - which is how he has now been convicted.

In court he showed remorse and understanding.

He had previously apologized to the victim by letter.

The juvenile judge spoke in the verdict of Thursday of a "very serious act" that had practically no motive.

Nevertheless, due to his lack of maturity, the 19-year-old should be subject to the milder youth criminal law.

The verdict is not yet legally binding.
