The corona pandemic has led to distance education, high sickness absence and rapid changes in municipal upper secondary school activities, and has been pointed out as the reasons why many students have been negatively affected.

The municipal upper secondary schools' degree forecast from March shows that the number of students who risk not receiving approved grades has increased sharply compared with the same period last year, by 52 percent.

- The students have had to pay a very high price during the pandemic, says Christina Kastner Johnson, high school principal at Uppsala municipality.

"Better if they thought of it before"

The municipal upper secondary schools will now make several extra efforts so that more students will take the student with approved grades.

Some of the students at Ellen Fries high school in Uppsala confirm that the pandemic has made it difficult for many students to study and that there has been a need for extra support.

- It would have been better if the municipality had thought about this a little earlier, says Lala Anwar, who is studying the final year of the social sciences line.
