Sala Allehanda was the first to tell about the decision announced by Chief Prosecutor Martin Tidén on April 29 this year.

The man who was shot to death aimed a pretend pistol at the police, but it was something that could be ascertained after the incident.

Therefore, it was right to shoot, says the chief prosecutor, who explains the decision as follows:

"A police officer who is convinced and justified by his view that there is an urgent danger that the police officer himself or others may be subjected to more severe violence, even though in reality this is not the case, can use firearms."

What happened?

It was the night of December 19 and the police received an alarm from two private individuals who told them that a man had threatened them with a gun.

A civilian patrol was dispatched to the scene.

When the patrol's car rolled into Gruvgatan, the police saw a man come running with something that looked like a gun to their car.

One policeman shot at the man who continued to run.

The other policeman shouted "Police, show your hands" whereupon the running man stopped, turned around and aimed at the police.

Four shots

Both police officers then make the same assessment and shoot at the man.

He is hit by four shots, three of which get caught in his safety vest.

The fourth enters the body and the man dies shortly afterwards.

The fatal shooting occurred at 02.22 at night.

To find out what and how the incident occurred, the investigators have, among other things, gone through telephone and radio traffic and obtained videos from body cameras.

Many interrogations have been held and a crime scene investigation has been conducted.

“The starting point for my decision is thus that the person has acted in such a way that there was justification for the police's assessment to fire.

”Martin Tidén writes in conclusion in the decision.

The investigation against the police has now been completed and closed.

The clip above was recorded the morning after the incident by SVT's reporter.
