As the world continues to experience the pandemic, some companies are breaking profit records.

This is the case with Nintendo.

The Japanese video game group saw its profit explode by more than 85% in one year.

The gradual end of lockdowns in Europe and the United States is therefore not good news for the inventor of the ultra popular Switch console.

The new Switch launched in 2017, cheaper, more manageable, is the star of gamers, more numerous than ever since the appearance of the virus, with ultra profitable games, in particular the latest versions of Animal Crossing or Mario Kart.

A decade after the Wii and the DS, Nintendo is attracting new audiences, not necessarily among the youngest.

For fans of stainless franchises, such as Donkey Kong, Zelda, Pokémon, or even Mario, teleworking sometimes also allows moments of relaxation.

The threat of a microchip shortage

But the horizon is not without clouds for the Japanese flagship, threatened like its competitor Sony and its PlayStation, by the shortage of electronic chips.

The acceleration of vaccination in many countries will also encourage some players to leave their couch.

The light may come from mobile games, sometimes in augmented reality, a new version of the Switch, even more sophisticated, and an amusement park in Osaka centered on the world of the plumber in the red cap.
