Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In view of falling seven-day incidence values in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the reopening of daycare centers and after-school care centers is within reach.

"If the number of infections in the country steadily falls below 100, the facilities can be reopened a week later," said Social Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) on Thursday of the German Press Agency.

The seven-day incidence in MV has been declining for days, reaching 102.1 on Wednesday.

Daycare centers have been closed since April 19, after the nationwide incidence rate surged above the 150 mark.

According to the state's Corona regulation for daycare centers, the value must be below 100 for seven days in a row before they can reopen.

According to Drese, the conditions for the daycare centers are good.

At the moment there is only an infection in 28 facilities.

"And these are almost always isolated cases without subsequent infections, since the contacts can be determined very quickly and the chains of infection can be broken."

There are hardly any infections within the daycare centers.

According to Drese, all around 15,000 daycare and after-school care workers in the country have received a vaccination offer.

How many perceived it is not clear.

At special vaccination appointments for the area, around 8,000 daycare and day-care center employees were vaccinated, said the minister.

It is therefore not known how many were privately vaccinated by their family doctor or in a vaccination center.

Not everywhere in the country have there been special vaccination campaigns with mobile teams for daycare workers.

The minister announced talks on opening perspectives for daycare centers for next Monday with the district administrators and mayors.

Then the general conditions and a test concept should be discussed.

According to Drese, around 40 percent of the regularly registered children are currently in emergency care, which daycare centers are currently only allowed to offer.
