Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In the discussion about opening scenarios, Economics and Health Minister Harry Glawe (CDU) announced that he would like to develop tourist model regions if the corona incidences continue to fall.

"The negotiations are ongoing," said Glawe on Thursday.

The model regions will be about the coast and the inland.

"We will give an answer before May 22nd."

On this day, the currently valid lockdown regulation expires.

When comparing with Schleswig-Holstein, Glawe pointed out that the incidence there is significantly lower than in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Heiko Geue, head of the state chancellery, had previously announced that he would allow regional tourism to take place at Whitsun.

The reason is the falling number of cases.

"This enables us to allow tourism in model regions with a stable low incidence as early as Pentecost," Geue told the Schweriner Volkszeitung (Thursday).

Model projects are being prepared.
