Saalfeld (dpa / th) - The former CDU district administrator of the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district, Werner Thomas, has switched to the AfD district parliamentary group.

With 11 members, it is now the strongest parliamentary group in the district council, the AfD announced on Thursday in Saalfeld.

The CDU parliamentary group, which now only has ten members, previously had the status of just under the strongest force.

In the 1990s, Thomas was district administrator in the district that has changed its shape through structural reform.

His change took place on Wednesday, said the vice-chairman of the AfD parliamentary group, Verena Sigmund.

The "Ostthüringer Zeitung" reported on it first.

The demarcation between CDU and AfD is an ongoing topic in Thuringian state politics.

The CDU state executive repeatedly emphasizes that there will be no cooperation between the CDU and the AfD.
