Following Britain's withdrawal from the EU, French fishermen believe that they are restricted in their fishing.

Fishermen believe that the UK is taking far too long to issue the necessary licenses.

Both Britain and France on Thursday called in patrol boats to the water where the protests were held:

- Our desire is not to create tensions, but to bring about a rapid and complete application of the (Brexit) agreement, says France's EU Minister Clément Beaune.

He adds that the country will not be intimidated by the British navy.

The protests started on Thursday morning and lasted until the afternoon.

Gregory Guida and Ian Gorst, who are the Minister of the Environment and Foreign Affairs on the island of Jersey, went out to talk to the fishermen themselves.

On Thursday night, the European Commission issued a statement regarding the situation that has arisen.

They write that the conditions for the fishing permits are contrary to the hand agreement that has already been entered into, The Guardian reports.
