Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In the course of the past month, every eleventh of 10,500 kindergartens in North Rhine-Westphalia was partially or completely affected by corona-related company closings - in March it was even every sixth.

This emerges from a report by NRW Family Minister Joachim Stamp (FDP) for the meeting of the technical committee on Thursday in the Düsseldorf state parliament.

Accordingly, the youth welfare offices reported that 818 daycare centers were partially closed and 110 completely closed during the month of April.

In March 1394 facilities were partially and 247 completely closed.

For April, 479 children and 368 daycare workers have been registered as infected - for March 2007 even children and 1607 workers.

In total, around 730,000 children from around 160,000 employees are cared for in the various offers in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The role of the British virus variant in daycare centers has not yet been "clearly clarified," according to another report by the minister.

"However, so far there are still few severe disease courses in children and adolescents."
