Kiel (dpa / lno) - According to the Christian Albrechts University (CAU), a species of dragonfly in southeast Brazil has been named after the Kiel scientist Stanislav N. Gorb.

"It is good news that new species are being found and described - and we are not just losing species," said Gorb, director of the Functional Morphology and Biomechanics Working Group at the Zoological Institute, on Thursday.

He also researches the biomechanics of dragonflies.

The previously unknown, bluish-patterned dragonfly species Heteragrion gorbi was discovered and described by researchers Rodrigo Roucourt Cezário and Rhainer Guillermo-Ferreira in a stream in São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil.

There is still so much unknown to discover on this planet, especially in tropical areas, said Gorb.

“We don't have to go to Mars for that.

That fascinates me very much. "
