Halle (dpa / sa) - There are now four discovery maps for visitors to the archeology route “Himmelswege”.

"In addition to the description of the locations, the cards have additional information on a number of details of the archaeological treasures," said state archaeologist Harald Meller on Thursday.

The maps contain information about Nebra's Ark, the Goseck solar observatory, the dolmen goddess of Langeneichstädt, the Pommelte ring sanctuary and the Halle State Museum of Prehistory.

For example, the “Arche Nebra” adventure center was opened in 2007 near the place where the sky disk was found.

The approximately 7000 year old solar observatory in Goseck (Weißenfels district) is the world's oldest facility of its kind. It was completely rebuilt at the original location as a reconstruction.

In addition, there is a large stone grave around 5500 years old near Langeneichstädt (Merseburg-Querfurt district) on the tourist route.

The approximately 130 kilometer long tourist route was opened in 2008.

The discovery maps can be downloaded from the Landesmuseum's website or ordered free of charge as A2 paper folding maps.

The cards are suitable for your own small presentation and are particularly interesting for schools, clubs and public institutions.
