This afternoon, the deadline set by the Israeli Supreme Court for 4 Palestinian families threatening to evacuate their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem expires, in order to reach an agreement with the settlers regarding the ownership of the lands on which their homes are built.

It is expected that the Supreme Court will issue its decision after reviewing the response of the defense staff of the two parties.

Last night witnessed clashes between Palestinians and the Israeli occupation forces, which used rubber bullets and stun grenades, wounding more than 20 Palestinians, and arresting 5 young men.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (non-governmental) stated, in a statement, that Palestinians were injured in clashes with the occupation forces in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, and they were treated on the ground.

The statement indicated that some citizens suffered from suffocation due to the firing of tear gas at the protesters, while others were wounded by rubber bullets, and others were beaten.

The occupation forces said that they had arrested at least 5 young men, and the residents also reported that they stormed the house of the Al-Kurd family, which was threatened with eviction, and attacked the members of the house, and fired a tear gas canister inside it.

They added that the occupation soldiers sprayed a number of the protesters with wastewater, while settlers chanted racist slogans calling for attacks on Arabs and emptying the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of its residents.

Against ethnic cleansing

And 14 unions and civil society organizations in Britain signed a statement calling on the British government to take measures regarding the ethnic cleansing practiced by Israel against the Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem.

The organizations signing the statement condemned the illegal Israeli eviction of Palestinian families and handing over their homes to settlers.

The organizations referred to what they described as demographic manipulation and ethnic cleansing by Israel, citing what is happening in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

Among the signatories of the statement are the National Union of Transport Workers, the National Union of Teachers, the Solidarity Campaign with Palestine, the Jews for Justice Organization for Palestinians, the "Stop the War" organization, in addition to the Israeli Committee Against House Destruction.

Warnings

The Islamic Jihad movement warned the Israeli occupation of an unpredictable response if it did not retract its decisions and continue its attacks against the people of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem.

The movement called on the Palestinian masses in occupied Jerusalem to confront with all force the settlers' plans to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque on 28 Ramadan.

The Popular Front also warned of the consequences of Jewish extremists storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the occupation's insistence on expelling hundreds of Jerusalemites from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

Yesterday, Muhammad Al-Deif, Chief of Staff of the Ezz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), warned the Israeli occupation authorities and the settlers that "if the aggression against the people of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem does not stop immediately, the Al-Qassam Brigades will not stand idly by." And the occupation will pay dearly. "

The guest emphasized that the Palestinian resistance leadership and the Qassam Brigades are closely watching what is happening in Jerusalem, directing a salute to the people of Sheikh Jarrah.

Refusal to settle

The European Union called on Israel to stop building settlements, and said it would not recognize any changes to the pre-1967 borders, including East Jerusalem, describing the settlement construction as illegal under international law.

The European Union said in a statement that Israel's intention to build 540 new housing units in the Abu Ghneim settlement in occupied Jerusalem would separate East Jerusalem from Bethlehem and undermine future negotiations on the two-state solution.

It also considered the increase in evictions and demolitions, especially in Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan in East Jerusalem, and the possibility of demolishing buildings in the Palestinian village of Al Walaja, as a matter of concern and illegal under international humanitarian law.
