A few weeks ago, SVT Nyheter Västerbotten called for the county's worst road and road 1077 between Stalon and Dikanäs in Vilhelmina municipality was one of those that received the most comments.

"Sweden's absolute worst road", "Dangerous" and "Incomprehensibly lousy" were some of the reviews.

When SVT visits Dikanäs to check out the road, it says after only a few miles an abandoned car with a puncture, and many stretches are filled with potholes.

"Holes all winter"

Kenneth Andersson, who runs a taxi and bus company in Dikanäs, says that the car with a puncture belongs to a family who were on their way to a cabin in the mountains.

He had to pull out during the night to help transport the stranded family.

It is something that happens sometimes, he says.

- They have not filled the holes all winter.

They just put up a sign that says "road work", says Kenneth Andersson.

Criticism of more roads

There are several roads to and from Dikanäs that are in poor condition.

According to Kenneth Andersson, the road to Daikanvik is even worse.

Gunnar Marksén is a postman and usually runs the mail round between Dikanäs and Daikanvik.

Even though the road this week due to maintenance is in better condition than in many months, he believes that it will soon be as lousy as before.

- You do not immediately argue about running this round.

Extensive refurbishment

The Swedish Transport Administration is aware of the roads in Dikanäs and for a dialogue with the contractor NCC about future maintenance.

With regard to road 1077, the Swedish Transport Administration announces that extensive upgrading will take place starting during the summer.
