At the end of 2019, 11.7 percent of all households in the country had a connection to gigabit fiber optic cables.
That was fifth place in a comparison of the federal states, as can be seen from the “Germany Index of Digitization 2021”, which the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems presented on Thursday in Berlin.
Compared to 2017, the connection rate in MV has grown by 8.3 percentage points - more than in any other federal state, as it was said.
Hamburg (71 percent of households) is best equipped with fiber optic cables, followed by Schleswig-Holstein (26.3 percent), Bavaria (15.5) and Saxony (12.4).
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania comes in fifth.
