Zwickau (dpa) - Third division soccer team FSV Zwickau has once again missed the hoped-for liberation in the relegation battle.

Against SV Meppen, the team of coach Joe Enochs did not get past a 0-0 on Wednesday.

In the table, the Saxons, without a win in eight games, still have seven points ahead of the relegation places three games before the end of the season.

The FSV had more play shares in the first round and was the more active team.

The best opportunity to take the lead was lost in the 31st minute by Felix Drinkuth, who failed with a shot at the right post.

Defensively, the Zwickau were very safe and initially left no chances for Meppen.

Only 30 seconds after the restart, FSV goalkeeper Johannes Brinkies had to intervene for the first time.

The captain of the Saxons fisted a shot from Hassan Amin from 16 meters from the danger zone (46th).

In the 54th minute, Brinkies was again on the post after a completion by Julius Düker and prevented the deficit against stronger guests.

The Enochs team acted without ideas in the second half of the game and was also lucky in the final phase that a header from Luka Tankulic landed just next to the left post (84th).
