The new digital care tool would cost the region hundreds of millions of kronor, and be used at all publicly owned health centers in Skåne and Västra Götaland.

But after Uppdrag granskning and SVT Nyheter Skåne revealed that the procurement is suspected to be rigged, the deal was stopped.

Now the region is demanding back the money paid to the company suspected of the cheating.

Bribery

Recently, the negotiations ended in Malmö District Court, where the people behind the scandal-ridden company that provided the care tool are charged with bribery.

According to the indictment, two former salaried employees at Region Skåne and a former regional employee are suspected of having been offered employment and having received promises of co-ownership and shares in Vårdinnovation, the company behind Vårdexpressen.

The Västra Götaland region is claiming damages from the company totaling SEK 7,650,000, the amount that the region paid for the care tool that was never introduced.
