Berlin (dpa / bb) - Receiving hate messages by email is part of everyday life for the Berlin SPD politician Sawsan Chebli (42).

The State Secretary for Civic Engagement and International Affairs in Berlin's Senate Chancellery pointed this out on Twitter on Wednesday.

"One of ten emails of this kind that I received today," she wrote and published a passage in which Chebli is not only insulted with a series of swearwords.

The author also wishes her death and tells her to leave the country.

“Now I'm supposed to be put with my back against the wall and shot.

I'm posting this here to wake up, ”Chebli continues.

“Too many think: It's not that bad with racism in Germany.

Yes it is."

The tweet by the SPD politician, who is active against racism and often takes a position via her Twitter account, resulted in a large number of comments.

“That is unbelievable”, says one, “Please don't let it get you down”, another.

The Bundestag wants to pass an amendment to the Network Enforcement Act (NetzDG), which has been in force since 2017, on Thursday.

The law is the basis for taking action against hate crime, criminal false news and other criminal content on social networks.

In future, for example, there should be more user-friendly reporting channels for complaints.
