The presidents of Léopold Sédar Senghor to Macky Sall, Lat Dior, figure of resistance to colonization, the Senegalese national football team, or other symbols, more or less known, of the country's history, here are some some of the themes of these podcasts.

Each 10-minute episode, in French and Wolof, is told by the storyteller and teacher-researcher Massamba Guèye. “

In all this selection, there is one heroine that I particularly like, it is Ndieumbeutt Mbodj. One of the great women to have led an entire kingdom in Walo, in the region of Saint-Louis, and who opposed Faidherbe

”, he explains to us.

These podcasts are stories based on academic writings, and which are passed on in the tradition of orality. “

We said to ourselves: the children hardly read any more and the story books are bulky. How to switch from oral to written source and return to oral source in podcast form. It is very important, because all these young people, who take canoes, see Africa only in its material aspect. I believe that if we create affect, if we make them love their own country, their own village, their own heroes who are African, they will reflect on the world by integrating affective and patrimonial data. "

About fifteen episodes are already online, there will be 50 in total.

A new episode is to be discovered every Tuesday on the

Goethe Institut Senegal website

.

Our story is beautiful and deserves to be known!
