Würzburg (AP) - The Niners Chemnitz celebrated an away win on the penultimate day of the basketball league.

The team of trainer Rodrigo Pastore won on Wednesday at s.Oliver Würzburg with 84:83 (47:39).

The best Niners throwers were Malte Ziegenhagen (24 points) and Marcus Thornton (19).

In the table, the Saxons are in 13th place with 24 points before the last game of the season on Sunday (3 p.m.) against Alba Berlin.

After three defeats in a row, the Saxons presented themselves much better in Würzburg.

After a balanced first quarter (26:22), the Chemnitz team were able to clear eight points until the break.

The Pastore team often scored points, especially from a distance.

By the end of the game, the Niners had converted a total of 16 threes.

Hosts Würzburg were only able to reduce the deficit in the final quarter and even had a chance of victory in the last attack.

With a lot of passion, however, the people of Chemnitz defended their narrow lead up to the final siren.
