The government's goal at present is to only get the children out of the camps, not the women, which has proved difficult.

The local self-government in northeastern Syria opposes the children being separated from their mothers, unless the woman has given her consent - something none of those who are Swedish citizens have done so far, the radio writes.

According to the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, about 30 children and about 20 women with connections to Sweden may be in the camps.

- It does not work that the children are still there for so long, and the situation is locked that way.

But then we must make sure that the mothers also come with the children to Sweden, says Rasmus Ling, the Green Party's migration policy spokesperson, to SR.

"Children are innocent"

According to the party, it is more important that the situation for the children, who have not been involved in what their parents may have done, changes, than that the women are brought to justice by the local self-government in the area.

- They have been there for so long, the children are innocent of what their parents have done, and it can not wait any longer, says Rasmus Ling.

Linde (S): Not relevant

On Twitter, Minister of the Interior Mikael Damberg's (S) press secretary Per Strängberg writes that the government will present news on the issue shortly.

"The government will not work for Sweden to bring home Swedish terrorist travelers from Syria and Iraq.

Prosecution and accountability of IS terrorists in the region is a high priority.

Victims of crime must be rehabilitated.

We will be able to present news in the area in the near future ", he writes.

Foreign Minister Ann Linde (S) also recently gave her view on the matter in the Riksdag.

- As I have mentioned before, it is not relevant to repatriate women who want to voluntarily leave the camps in northeastern Syria.

They will be investigated by the local self-government, for crimes, including the connection that may have had with Daesh, Ann Linde said then, writes SR.
